When are we open?
We are open from Monday - Friday between 8.30am -noon, and again from 12.50pm - 4.15pm. Special late evening opening until 7pm on Wednesday evenings. Note that the Library is normally closed during public and school holidays (( to check).
Who can use the Library?
Adult daytime and evening class students, as well as members of the public, are welcome. Daytime users (between 8.30am and 4pm) must sign in at the Main Office where a Visitor's Pass will be issued. Primary school pupils wishing books for projects are also welcome, but may only use the Library after 3.45pm.
What can the Library offer me?
We can provide the following services for you:
- a limited stock but there should be something somewhere to suit most levels, interests and tastes.
Study support - we're a busy library during the school day so it can be a bit lively at times, but we can offer a quiet place for study or research after 4pm on Wednesdays.
Access to computing facilities - including word processing and printing. For daytime users, best to check availability beforehand by telephoning the Library.
Internet access - (for educational use only). For daytime users, best to check availability beforehand by telephoning the Library.
Information - on Careers, and Further and Higher Education.
Daily newspapers - Daily Telegraph.
Maps - local and national, as well as a variety of scales.
Timetables - local bus and rail.
Tourist information - files for reference use only.
Photocopying facilities - A3 or A4 size paper; enlargements or reductions; card, coloured paper or acetate sheets (A4).
Fax facilities.
Family History - access to the Lothians Family History Society library (for society members only, enrolment forms available from Library. Annual membership fee).
How do I join?
Simply pick up an application form from the Library or from the Community Learning and Development Information Pack issued to adult students at enrolment times. Complete the form and become an instant member.
