Dear Parent,

Arrangements for Spring and Summer Holidays.

I write to remind you that the school will be closed for pupils for the Easter Holidays at 3:40 p.m. on Friday 30 March and will restart for the summer term at 8:45 on Tuesday 17 April. During the Summer Term, the school will be closed on Monday 7 May (May Holiday) and Monday 21 May (Staff In-service). Summer term will end on Friday 29 June.

Eco Schools week of Action

Lasswade High School is registered as an Eco School. This is an international organisation aimed at raising awareness on environmental issues and has a mission statement ‘Think Globally Act Locally’. This year the School has been looking at issues relating to reducing energy usage, recycling and taking the first steps towards reducing the litter problem in and around the school.

The week of action starts on Saturday 24 March with a Car Boot Sale at the school from 10am – 12 noon. Pupils are encouraged to take a table to recycle unwanted items. A range of other events, including a green challenge, film show, litter tidy and special assemblies will be used to raise the profile of Eco schools amongst the pupils and staff. An enclosed flyer gives full details. I hope you will encourage your child/children to be part of the event. (Book your place at the Car Boot Sale by ringing the school on 663 7171).

School Board

From August 2007 School Boards will no longer exist and will be replaced by a Parent Forum. All parents are automatically members of the Parent Forum. A Parent Council will then be selected by the Parent Forum to represent all parents of children at Lasswade High School. A special meeting has been arranged for Wednesday 28 March, 7:30 pm when further information will be issued. A separate letter of invitation will be issued to all parents.
