Pupils from our school ran a workshop entitled Actin’ Up. The aim was to use drama as a means of educating people about waste in a fun and interesting manner. A group of Lasswade’s budding actors and actresses led this workshop, which was praised by the summit organisers and attendees.
Lasswade also provided a group of delegates to take part in workshops run by other schools. These included a workshop run by Peebles high, which involved making Christmas decorations from recycled materials. Then our delegates attended a workshop led by Castlebrae High School, a quiz on a short film they had premiered to the summit earlier in the day. The final workshop attended by the delegates from Lasswade was led by Edinburgh Councils compost advisor. This work shop designed to inform the delegates about composting and its important role in making waste history. Other events through the day included a networking event, a talk from the student recycling body and a fashion (which was won hands down by Mrs Alves!)
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Our representatives came back inspired and with lots of new ideas to put into place in and around the school. All that remains is to thank Mr Alves for taking us to the summit!
